Iowa Stopgap Measure Moves Forward
Thursday, 09/21/17, we learned that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a letter of completeness to the Iowa Insurance Division (IID) regarding Iowa’s proposed Stopgap Measure. This letter means that the information required for approval has been reviewed, all questions have been answered, and the application for federal approval of the Stopgap Measure is complete. After a 30-day comment period, the proposal can be considered for final approval or denial.
This is a significant step towards approval of the Iowa Stopgap Measure. Commissioner Ommen said he is looking forward to “swift approval by the administration after the federal comment period closes so the Iowa Stopgap Measure can be ready for the 2018 open enrollment period starting November 1, 2017”
